All of the mysteries of Life
Have their answers found
Under the yellow glow
Of a streetlight.
Where they are walking
Side by side
In breathless abandon
Speaking in thrilling whispered
Words. Under that halo
They must have known everything There is to know.
Fingers find each other.
The twilight bleeds softly
Into a black sky.
Clandestine illumination.
All the answers of the Universe
Can be found
In the warmth of two holding hands.
Where their veins mirror
Carrying, bringing
The rosy red flush. On that lonely street
They find each other
Without preamble or people.
Finding something
More precious than mystery.
Uncommunicable except for that silence
Between them.
In held gazes
And quiet breaths. They find themselves
Mapping skin and bone.
Hurried from hesitation
Lingering with love.
They step out of that glow
Forever changed by something
They have no words for.
Their hands touch; all is lit up once more.
